TheASUSRT-N15WirelessRoutercanmeetvariousworkingscenarioswithproper
conguration.Thedefaultsettingsofthewirelessroutermaychangetomeetyourindividualneeds.
Thus,beforeusingthewirelessrouter,checkthebasicsettingstomakesuretheyallworkinyour
environment.
ASUSprovidesautilitynamedWPSforfastwirelessconguration.Ifyouwouldliketouse
WPSforyourrouterconguration,refertochapter6ofusermanualinsupportCD.
Note:
Wiredconnectionforinitialcongurationisrecommendedtoavoidpossible
setupproblemsduetowirelessuncertainty.
1) Wired connectionired connection
The RT-N15WirelessRouterissuppliedwithanEthernetcableinthepackage.Thewireless
routerhasanintegratedauto-crossoverfunction.Thus,youcaneitheruse a straight-throughor
acrossovercableforwiredconnection.PlugoneendofthecabletotheLANportontherear
paneloftherouterandtheotherendtotheEthernetportonyourPC.
2) Wireless connection
Forestablishingwirelessconnection,youneedanIEEE802.11b/g/ncompatibleWLANcard.
Refertoyourwirelessadapterusermanualforwirelessconnectionprocedures.Bydefault,
theSSIDofthewirelessrouteris“default”(inlowercase),encryptionisdisabledandopen
systemauthenticationisused.
3) Setting IP address for wired or wireless client
ToaccesstheRT-N15WirelessRouter,youmusthavethecorrectTCP/IPsettingsonyourwired
orwirelessclients.SettheIPaddressesoftheclientswithinthesamesubnetofRT-N15.
Getting an IP address automatically
The RT-N15WirelessRouterintegratesDHCPserverfunctions,thus,yourPCgetsanIP
addressautomatically.
Note:
BeforerebootingyourPC,switchONthe
wirelessrouterandmakesuretherouterisready.
Setting up the IP address manually
To manuallysettheIPaddress,youneedtoknowthe
defaultsettingsofthewirelessrouter:
• IP address 192.168.1.1
