Battery

CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist

grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as

a connector on your computer).

CAUTION: To avoid damage to the computer, use only the battery designed for

this particular Dell computer. Do not use batteries designed for other Dell

computers.

Removing the Battery

Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 7.

Remove the base cover (see "Removing the Base Cover" on page 11).

Disconnect the battery cable from the system-board connector.

Remove the five screws that secure the battery to the palm-rest assembly.

Lift the battery off the palm-rest assembly.

Replacing the Battery

CAUTION: To avoid damage to the computer, use only the battery designed for

this particular Dell computer.

Follow the instructions in "Before You Begin" on page 7.

Place the battery on the palm-rest assembly.

Replace the five screws that secure the battery to the palm-rest assembly.

Connect the battery cable to the system-board connector.

Replace the base cover (see "Replacing the Base Cover" on page 12).
