Changing the weight unit

The scales can display values in the weight

units

g

 (grams) or

oz

 (ounces). The default

setting is in grams. You can set the unit using

the

g/oz

switch at the back of the instrument.

Positioning scales

Place the scales on a firm, even surface.  A

firm base is essential to correct measure-

ment.

5 O

PERATION

Measuring item to be weighed

Switching on scales

Press the

ON/OFF TARA

 button.

The initial display appears briefly, automatically fol-

lowed by the display

0 g

Place item to be weighed on the scales and

read the weight

Note

Overloading your scales or not loading them prop-

erly may be detrimental to their proper functioning:

Never place more than 5000 g (11 lb) on the

weigh plate.

Never put any objects or food on the display or

the buttons.

Weighing without a bowl:

Place the item to be weighed directly on the weigh

plate.

Weighing with a bowl:

Place an empty bowl on the weigh plate.

Press the

ON/OFF TARA

 button. The display reads 0

g again. Fill the item to be weighed into the bowl.

The display shows the weight of the item to be

weighed.

Weight is displayed in 1 g graduations (1/8 oz incre-

ments). With a liquid item to be weighed, 100 g (3

1/2 oz) corresponds to approximately one decilitre.

Weighing additional items (tare)

To weigh additional quantities (e.g. flour, water, salt for

a dough) you can reset the scales to 0 g.

Press the

ON/OFF TARA

 button before adding each

new ingredient.

Entering the foodstuffs code

From the foodstuffs list (page 30 onwards), find the 3-

digit code for your item to be weighed.

Using the digital buttons, enter the 3-digit code, e.g.

024

 (not

24

).

Note

If you have entered the wrong number, fill in the

code with any numbers up to three digits.  Then re-

enter the code again.

The display indicates the code, code number and the

weight.

Reading off nutritional and energy values

You can now call up the nutritional and energy values

for this foodstuff.

by pressing the required function key (see Section 3

'Instrument Description', page 24). You can also

press several function keys one directly after the

other.

The display briefly shows the nutritional or energy

value before switching back to the weight display.

Note

Please note that, due to natural fluctuations in

the nutritional and energy values of foodstuffs

only approximate data is possible.

If you subsequently put on an item to be

weighed while a nutritional or energy value is al-

ready displayed, there is no further change in the

displayed value. In this case, first switch to

weighing mode (by pressing the weight   button

or waiting briefly). Then press the function but-

tons for nutritional and energy values again.

Switching off scales

The scales switch off automatically 90 seconds after

the last weighing change.

To switch them off manually, press the button

ON/OFF TARA

for approximately 3 seconds.

The display clears.

G B Saving weighed items

You can save the weight, nutritional and en-

ergy values of the foodstuff currently being

measured. The scales automatically add up

the values of each measurement stored.

You can view the total weight, total nutritional

values and total energy values at any time.

You can, for example, save all the foodstuffs

which you have measured in one day and

retrieve them at the end of the day.

Note

The saved data is retained even if the

scales are switched on and off or if the

battery is changed.

Saving the first measurement

You have previously done a measurement and en-

tered the foodstuffs code.

Press the memory button

M+

.

The display briefly shows the sigma symbol '

'

', the

memory space (e.g.

01

) and the total weight and

switches back to weighing mode.

M

 is then continu-

ously illuminated. Successful storing is signalled by a

long bleeping tone.

Example: weighing yoghurt

(code 012, weight 125 g, 62

kcal) …

and save.

Saving other measurements

Substitute the item to be weighed and repeat step 1.

Example: then weigh an

apple (code 563, weight 143

g, 77 kcal) …

and save.

Displaying added measured values

To retrieve the saved values, e.g. on a daily basis:

Press the memory button

MR

The display briefly shows the sigma symbol '

'

', the

number of memory spaces (e.g.

02

) and the total

weight stored.

Then press the required function buttons consecu-

tively for the sum of the nutritional and energy val-

ues.

If you do not press any more button within 8 seconds,

the display indicates the weight again.

Example: The weight of the

yoghurt and the apple added

together is 268 g (125 g +

143 g).

The calories added together

are 139 kcal (62 + 77).

Clear memory

Clear the memory regularly, e.g. on a daily basis.

Press the memory button

MC

The symbol

clears. The memory has been cleared.
