because boiling water can uncontrollably leak disturbing the process of coffee pouring at the same time. The

steam release knob (12) may be only

used during steam function.

10. Preparing steam (milk foaming)

For the process of milk foam m function is used. The steam has two tasks: it warms up and at the same time

ing the stea

mixes milk air giving it delicate, velvety appearance. Just like i brewing process the b cts in milk

with the n coffee est effe

foaming you can get gaining experience in this field.

Hint: Remember that coffee is the basis of every coffee drink and milk is only addition.

Attention: It is advisable first to foam milk and then to prepare coffee. The steam function may be also used to warm up

drinks.

10.1. Prepare beforehand espresso in accordance with the point 8 or 9.

10.2. Determine the amount of ne

cessary milk based on the number of cups or the size of a milk jug.

Hint: Remember that the milk volume rises during the process of its foaming.

Pour cold milk into the stainless steel jug up to 1/3 to 1/2 of its volume.

Hint: K

eep the stainless steel milk jug in a fridge in such a way that milk is chilled all the time. Remember

not to rinse the jug with hot water before its use.

10.3. Turn the knob of the espresso machine (B) in such a way that the steam indicator

(I) on the control panel

will be illuminated. The knob indicator (C) will immediately start flashing to inform you that the espresso

machine is in the course of warming up.

10.4. When the knob indicator (C) stops flashing and starts being illuminated continuously, it means that the

espresso machine is ready for foam mode (that it has attained appropriate temperature).

10.5. Rinse the steam wand (10) putting under it different container then a milk jug acting in acc

ordance with point

6.2.4. The steam wand was initially rinsed.

10.6. Then put the steam wand into a milk jug in such a way ig. 8), tha(F

t the wand is approx. 1/2 cm below the milk

surface. Activate the steam release by setting the steam release knob (12) again to the

position, that is turn

it counterclockwise in such a way that the

symbol coincides with the mark on the casing of the espresso

machine.

Tip the jug in such a way that the steam wand is in the jug and lower th jug until the tip of the steam wand is right e

under the milk surface. It results in starting the process of milk foaming.

Important: Make ure that the steam comes out eves nly. This results in appropriate aeration of foam. In

order to avoid it, raise the jug in such a way that the steam wand is immersed deeper in milk. R

emember

that perfect consistency is soft, velvety foam.

When milk has warmed up and foamed, the milk level in the jug starts rising. When it happens, lower the

jug, however, always keep the tip of the steam wand right below the milk surface.

When the foam eady, raise the jug in such a way that the steam

is r wand is inside the milk.

Hint: The amount of necessary foam changes depending on the kind of drink. E.g. cappuccino requires

more foam than coffee drink based on espresso with milk foamed by steam.
