Festool SRM 45 E-LHS 225 PLANEX: CAUTION
CAUTION: Festool SRM 45 E-LHS 225 PLANEX

7 Adjustments
7.1
Connecting electric power tools
CAUTION
Risk of injury
- Make sure that the electric power tool is
switched off.
- Observe the maximum appliance socket con-
nected load (see "Technical data")
• Connect the electric power tool to the appliance
socket [1-5].
7.2
Connecting suction hoses
• Insert the suction hose into the intake opening
[1-2].
• Set the hose diameter adjuster [1-6] to match
the diameter of the connected hose.
This ensures that the suction capacity is meas-
ured correctly.
7.3
Adjusting the suction power
You can use the suction power adjuster [1-4] to
adapt the machine suction power to different ap-
plications.
7.4
Applying the brake
The brake prevents the mobile dust extractor from
rolling.
• Applying the brake
[1-12]
• Releasing the brake
[1-13]
8
Working with the machine
The extraction hose is connected to the extraction
sleeve on the outlet spigot of the electric power
tool. The special hose supplied with the suction
sleeve is designed for use with the
PLANEX
and
most other Festool machines.
Check the fi lter element for damage before start-
ing work.
Check the volume monitor before starting work:
• Cover the end of the hose while the motor is
running.
An acoustic warning signal sounds after 1 sec-
ond.
You may now start extracting.
8.1
Extracting dry materials
CAUTION
Hazardous dust!
- Use a fi lter or disposal bag when extracting
hazardous materials!
The fi lter element will become damp when fl uids
are extracted. A damp filter element will clog
more quickly when dry materials are extracted.
Therefore, dry the fi lter element before extracting
dry materials or replace the damp fi lter with a dry
one.
8.2
Extracting fl uids
• Remove the fi lter bag before extracting any fl u-
ids.
The dust extractor stops automatically when the
maximum level is reached.
If foam or fl uid starts to escape, switch off the
machine immediately and empty the dust con-
tainer.
8.3
The antistatic system
Friction inside the extraction hose causes static
electricity to develop during extraction. Operating
personnel may receive unpleasant electric shocks
while working. The mobile dust extractor is fi tted
with an antistatic system as standard to discharge
any static electricity that may develop. However,
always use the enclosed AS extraction hose.
8.4
After fi nishing work
• Switch off the mobile dust extractor and discon-
nect the plug.
• Empty the dust container.
• Wind up the mains power cable on the cable hook
[1-7].
CAUTION
Hazardous dust!
- Wipe down the mobile dust extractor and clean
all accessories thoroughly using the extrac-
tor (inside and out) before removing from the
working area.
- Parts that you were not able to clean thoroughly
must be sealed in an airtight plastic bag prior
to transportation.
- Wear a dust mask!
• Place the mobile dust extractor in a dry room
inaccessible to unauthorised users.
9
Service and maintenance
9.1
Acoustic warning signal
An acoustic warning signal sounds if the air speed
in the suction hose falls below 20 m/s.
Possible causes and remedies
- Suction power adjuster setting too low:
Set the suction power adjuster to a higher set-
ting.
- Hose diameter setting does not match the diam-

16
eter of the connected suction hose:
Set the correct hose diameter.
- Suction hose clogged or kinked:
Eliminate blockage or kink.
- Disposal/Filter bag full:
Change the disposal/fi lter bag.
- Filter element clogged:
Clean the fi lter element or replace if damaged
or heavily clogged.
9.2
Automatic fi lter cleaning
To maintain a constant suction power, the fi lter
element is cleaned automatically every 30 seconds
during operation.
We recommend cleaning the fi lter element com-
pletely if severely clogged:
After extracting with a disposal bag:
• Set the suction power control to the maximum
setting.
• Cover the end of the nozzle or suction hose with
your hand for 10 seconds.
NOTE
In intensive applications that generate adherent
dust, it may be necessary to clean the fi lter ele-
ment mechanically under certain circumstances
(extract). Wear a dust mask!
9.3
Changing fi lters
CAUTION
Hazardous dust!
- Do not generate clouds of dust unnecessarily.
- Always wear a P2 dust mask when working
with hazardous dust.
Changing the disposal bag
• Clean the fi lter element before changing the
disposal bag (Chap. 9.2).
• Remove the top section [Fig. 2].
• Pull the fi lter bag socket [5-2] carefully from the
intake opening [5-1].
• Close off the fi lter bag socket with the slide piece
[5-3].
• Close the disposal bag using the cord provided.
• Insert a new disposal bag [Fig. 3] in the clean
container.
• Dispose of the used bag in accordance with statu-
tory regulations.
Changing the fi lter bag
• Remove the top section [Fig. 2].
• Pull the fi lter bag socket [5-2] carefully from the
extractor opening [5-1].
• Close off the fi lter bag socket with the slide piece
[5-3].
• Insert a new fi lter bag [Fig. 4].
• Dispose of the used bag in accordance with statu-
tory regulations.
Changing the fi lter element
Never operate the machine without a fi lter ele-
ment as this may damage the motor.
• Remove the top section [Fig. 2].
• Pull the fi lter element upwards to remove [Fig.
6].
• Open the stirrup handle [6-3] and remove the
stirrup section.
• Remove the fi lter retaining disc [6-1].
• Remove the fi lter element.
Clean the fi lter seal and fi ll level tube [6-2].
• Insert a new fi lter element.
• Place the fi lter retaining disc in position.
• Replace the stirrup and secure the stirrup handle.
• Dispose of the used fi lter element in accordance
with statutory regulations.
9.4
Emptying the dust container
• Remove the top section [Fig. 2].
• Empty the extracted material.
• Clean the edge of the container and replace the
top section of the extractor.
• Clean the intake opening and the hose sleeve.
• Dispose of the extracted material in accordance
with statutory regulations.
10 Accessories
Use only original Festool accessories and Festool
consumable material intended for this machine
because these components are designed specifi -
cally for the machine. Using accessories and con-
sumable material from other suppliers will most
likely affect the quality of your working results and
limit any warranty claims. Machine wear or your
own personal workload may increase depending on
the application. Protect yourself and your machine,
and preserve your warranty claims by always using
original Festool accessories and Festool consum-
able material!
11
Disposal
Do not throw the power tool in your household
waste! Dispose of the machine, accessories and
packaging at an environmentally-responsible
recycling centre! Observe the valid national regu-
lations.
EU only:
European Directive 2002/96/EC stipulates
that used electric power tools must be collected
separately and disposed of at an environmentally
responsible recycling centre.

12 Warranty
For our tools, we give warranty for material and
production defects in accordance with the locally
applicable legal provisions, but in any case for at
least 12 months. Within the EU member states,
the warranty period is 24 months (verification
through invoice or delivery note). Damage caused
by the operator, natural wear, overloading, incor-
rect handling or through the use of the equipment
not specifi ed in the operating manual, or damage
which was known at the time of purchase, is not
covered by the warranty. Furthermore, damage
caused by the use of non-original Festool accesso-
ries and consumable material (e.g. sanding pads)
is also excluded. Complaints can only be recog-
nised if the tool is returned while still assembled
to the supplier or an authorised Festool Customer
Service workshop. Keep the operating manual,
safety instructions, spare parts list and purchase
receipt in a safe place. Otherwise the respective,
current warranty conditions of the manufacturer
shall apply.
