2. Operation

2.1 Battery

The scale requires 2 x 1.5 V alkaline mikro AA batteries. Before using the baby scales, these must

be inserted in the battery compartment beneath the scales, ensuring the right polarity. When “

Lo

appears in the display, the batteries need to be replaced.

Spent batteries and rechargeable batteries do not constitute normal household waste!

They are considered to be toxic waste and, as such, should be disposed of in special

containers, toxic waste collection points or brought to electrical goods dealers.

Note: Batteries containing pollutant substances are marked as follows:

Pb = Battery contains lead, Cd = Battery contains cadmium, Hg = Battery contains

Pb Cd Hg

mercury.

2.2 Weighing

The weight is displayed in steps of 5 g from a minimum weight of 50 g.

Press the button “

” to switch on the scale.

As soon as “0.000 kg” appears on the display, the scale is ready to take measurements.

Now place the baby on the weighing area. Do this very carefully; do not let the baby fall and take

particular care with the baby’s head.

This baby scale has a “HOLD” function (AUTO HOLD and MECHANICAL HOLD). The AUTO HOLD

function establishes the baby’s weight on the display as soon as he/she is still enough to achieve

an exact measurement value. If the baby is moving around vigorously, his/her weight cannot be re-

corded. Therefore, try to calm the wriggling baby to achieve a rapid measurement, but do not touch

the baby, as this will affect the weight measurement.

As soon as the baby’s weight is established on the display, the word “HOLD” stops flashing and the

weight is displayed for a further 20 seconds. The scale then switches off automatically.

If the baby is wriggling about too vigorously, you can select the MECHANICAL HOLD function by

pressing the “HOLD” button. Within 3 seconds, the word “HOLD” stops flashing and the weight is

displayed for a further 20 seconds.

If you do not want to place the baby directly on the weighing surface, but prefer to use a towel, for

example, you have to place the towel on the scales BEFORE switching them on. If the towel (and

any other items which you want to deduct again during weighing) weighs over 50 g, you can also

use the TARA function. Once you have pressed the TARA button, ‘Tare’ is shown in the display. To

reset the scale to 0.000 g, press the TARA (tare) button after “HOLD” has stopped flashing.

On delivery the scale is set at “kg” units. The button ”kg/lb/oz“ allows you to switch at any time

between kilogramme units and pounds (lb) and ounces (oz).

2.3 Disposal

Please dispose of the device in accordance with the directive – WEEE (Waste Electrical and

Electronic Equipment). If you have any queries, please refer to the local authorities responsible

for waste disposal.
