CLEANING

Daily cleaning

Before cleaning, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to

cool down.

The appliance must not be immersed in water or any other liquid.

Remove the drip tray and wash it and the grid, letting them dry completely before

replacing them.

Remove the rubber tip from the steam nozzle. Wipe the steam nozzle with a damp

cloth, and wash the rubber tip in warm water, with a little detergent if necessary.

Rinse the rubber tip thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry completely

before replacing it.

The best way to clean the appliance itself is to wipe it with a well-wrung cloth

using hot water and a little detergent.

Do not use any kind of strong or abrasive cleaning agent on the appliance or

accessories. Never use a scouring sponge or similar to clean it, as this may

damage the surface.

Empty the water reservoir if the appliance is not going to be used for a prolonged

period.

Cleaning the brewing head (twice a year)

Remove the brewing head by undoing the screw in the centre of it.

Wipe the area under and around the brewing head with a damp cloth and a small

amount of detergent.

Clean the brewing head by rinsing it under the tap and removing any deposits

with a brush.

Allow the brewing head to dry completely and replace it.

Descaling

The lime content of ordinary tap water means limescale may gradually be deposited

inside the appliance. This limescale may be loosened using acetic acid (NOT ordinary

vinegar) or descaler, available in supermarkets, etc.

Mix 1 part acetic acid with 3 parts cold water, or follow the instructions on the

descaler packaging.

Descaling the espresso maker

1. Pour the solution into the reservoir up to the MAX mark.

2. Check that the filter holder is fitted (and not filled with coffee), and place a

container under the brewing head.

3. Press the On/Off button for espresso brewing; the green and orange indicator

lights will come on.

4. When the orange indicator light goes out, turn the function selector to the brewing

position and run two cups of water through it.

5. Turn the function selector to the frothing position and wait for 2 minutes while

steam comes out of the steam nozzle.

6. Press the On/Off button for espresso brewing to switch off the espresso maker.

7. Wait at least 15 minutes to give the solution time to work on the inside of the

appliance.

8. Switch the espresso maker back on, and repeat steps 3-7 at least 3 times.

9. Turn the function selector to the brewing position, and leave the appliance to run

until there is no more descaling solution in the reservoir.

10. Then rinse the appliance through with clean water at least 3 times.

Descaling the coffee maker

1. Pour the solution into the reservoir up to the MAX mark.

2. Check that the filter element is fitted (and not filled with coffee), and place the

coffee pot on the hotplate.

3. Press the On/Off button for coffee brewing twice; the red indicator light comes on.

4. Press the On/Off button when around one cup of the solution has run through.

5. Leave it switched off for around 15 minutes to give the solution time to work.

6. Switch the appliance back on, and repeat steps 4-5 twice.

7. Allow the rest of the solution to run through the appliance.

8. Finally, rinse the appliance through with clean water at least 3 times.
