Safe operation principles | Maintenance and storage | Safety measures and instructions

If the machine got jammed, switch-off the drive unit before clearing a blockage. Do not allow

processed material fragments to get into the unit, avoid its permanent damage, or eventual

ignition.

Maintain all covers and deflectors in a good condition and in place.

Never transport the equipment with the drive unit switched-on.

Whenever you leave the equipment, switch-off the drive unit and disconnect from power

supply.

Never incline the shredder while it is energized.

Keep the extension cable(s) away from the shredding mechanism parts. Avoid their damage

and a possible electrical shock hazard.

5. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

If you intend to carry out a service inspection, storage or replacement of some part, switch-off

the engine, disconnect the equipment from the mains and make sure that all moving parts

have been stopped. Before starting to carry out the planned activity, wait until the equipment

cools down.

Let the equipment cool down before storage.

While carrying out any service maintenance of the shredding mechanism, do not forget that

the mechanism can be switched-on even manually despite of the interlock switch stop.

Keep the ventilation slots of the engine cleaned – not only from the shredded material rests

but also of all gathered garden debris – reduce the fire risk.

If for connecting the equipment to the mains the extension cable is used, it must not be lighter

than the power supply cable belonging to the equipment.

Check power supply and extension cable condition regularly (if used) for signs of damage or

wear. If there are any of them found, do not use the equipment.

Never deactivate the interlock switch.

6. SAFETY MEASURES AND

INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING! While using the electrical garden equipment, keep the preventive safety

measures to reduce fire risk, electrical shock hazard and damage to health.

IMPORTANT – Safety, health and living environment

Necessary precondition for ensuring safety while using this electrical equipment is to be

familiar with the principles of its safe operation and to follow them.

Safety measures and instructions

Before the first use of this product, read the instructions below and check whether:

- The power supply cable sheath is safely secured by a terminal.

- The extension cable sheath is not damaged.

- The cable(s) is/are led so that risk of damage or accidental switch-off is eliminated.

- The power supply cable is unreeled from the coil completely so that not to get overheated.

WARNING! Do not overlook!

When switching-on the equipment supplied by alternating electric power, you may notice a

short voltage drop. This drop may influence even other devices (for instance flickering of

lights). However, if alternating electric supply current impedance (Zmax) is less than 0.40

Ohm at 50Hz, there is no fear of this failure. Contact your local electricity supplier for more

information.

Use an extension cable for outdoor applications

When using the shredder outdoors, use only extension cables intended for outdoor

applications for connecting to the mains.

Keep the working area clean!

Mess and dirtiness may cause accidents.

Mind suitable working conditions

Do not let the electrical equipment subject to rain.

Do not use the electrical equipment in rain or in humid weather.

The working area must be well lit.

Do not use the electrical equipment in a hazardous flammable or explosive atmosphere.

Protect yourself against electrical shock!

Avoid physical contact with earthed objects, e.g. pipes, cables etc.

WARNING! Be careful about children and animals!

Do not allow any comers to touch the machine or the extension cable. Keep all bystanders,

particularly children and animals, away from the working area.

Safety measures and instructions

Use the proper tools!

Do not use this electrical equipment for operations which it is not intended or designed for.

Wear suitable clothes!

Avoid wearing loose clothes and jewellery while working with the shredder. The machine

might catch them! While working with the equipment outdoors, wear gloves and non-slip sole

shoes. Have long hair arranged and covered so that the machine cannot catch it.

Use protective equipment while working!

Wear eye protection, a face-guard or a special dust mask if needed when doing the planned

activity. Wear hearing protection if working for a longer time or if carrying out a particularly

noisy activity.

Additional hints…

For optimal fulfillment of the task, you need to choose an appropriate tool. Do not use an

unsuitable tool for the demanded activity. Think better of what tool to use for what activity.

Hold tight!

Use clamps or a vice for fixation of the tool.

Be careful of the power line!

Make sure that the cable is attached properly and securely so as not to get disconnected,

broken or damaged in any other way, for instance as a result of inadequate loading.

Do not pull the power supply cable!

Never handle the equipment by pulling the cable. Do not even try to disconnect it from the

mains this way. Protect the cable against fire, oil and sharp edges.

Keep proper balance!

Keep proper balance and footing at all times.

Maintain your tools!

Maintain the shredding mechanism blade sharp and clean, thus you can enhance its

performance. Be particular about lubrication and replacement of worn-out parts. Check the

power supply cable regularly and in the case of need have it repaired in an authorized service

station. Pay close attention also to the extension cable condition. Maintain the equipment

handles dry, clean and without rests of oils and greases.

Safety measures and instructions

Be always ready!

Before the next use you need to check or repair the safety stop or any other part which is

damaged so that their proper function is ensured. Check functionality and adjustment

of all moving parts of the machine and their components. If protective guards or any

other elements with a similar purpose were damaged, let them replaced in an authorized

service station, unless otherwise specified in this manual. Let defective controls (switches)

replaced in an authorized service station as well. If they do not work properly, do not use the

equipment.

Electric shock hazard!

If not using the equipment or intending to carry out any repair or replacement of a defective

component (for instance a blade), always switch it off and remove the plug out of the socket

first!

Habit is stronger than reason!

Before re-activating the machine after a performed service work, make sure you have taken-

off just applied tools (wrenches, spanners, etc.).

Be alert!

Do not move the equipment which is energized with your finger on the switch. Before

connecting to the mains, make sure that the switch is in off position.

Use common sense!

Use common sense and do not use the equipment if you are e.g. tired at the moment!

WARNING! Using components or parts not specified/recommended in this manual

increases a risk of injury.

Contact a specialist!

This electrical equipment conforms to the related safety requirements. Leave repairs to a

competent specialist who uses original spare parts. In the opposite case you as the user are

subject to a health hazard. Do not attempt to open the cover of the tool. A respective specialist

is competent to replace the power supply cable.

Additional safety instructions

The power source voltage must correspond to voltage specified on the respective name plate

on the equipment.

It is recommended to use the shredder with a protective switch of not more than 30 mA.
