Congratulations! You have just purchased the BaByliss

will be the perfect partner to your shape and ally to
your gure and will be a harmonious addition to your
bathroom. It will help you achieve your objectives of
well-being thanks to the simple indicators related
to your weight. Its extra-large screen with coloured
indicator will allow instant readings and interpretation
of your progress.
WEIGHT AND WELL-BEING
In a society where the rhythm of life is constantly
increasing, where stress is taking an ever-greater role
and where the image of oneself is gaining increasing
importance, feeling good has become a priority.
On this route to well-being, weight is the rst piece of
information to take into account for our health: excess
weight often goes hand-in-hand with physical eort
that is more dicult to achieve. The body recovers
more slowly while at the same time the excess weight
quickly becomes a handicap in everyday life. While
if underweight, the body risks being unable to nd
sucient energy to function at full capacity. It tires
more quickly and does not recharge its batteries at the
same rate. In both cases, the consequences of this lack
of energy are felt psychologically, directly inuencing
the morale.
BaByliss, thanks to its technological know-how, oers
an answer appropriate to the need to monitor one’s
weight with the Coaching electronic scale. This unit
is equipped with dierent tools that will help you
interpret your weight and make follow-up easy.

- The dierence in weight in relation to the previous
weighing
The rst indicator of your weight is simply its evolu-
tion over time. Without any eort to remember, your
scale automatically calculates the gain in or loss of
weight since the last time you weighed yourself and an
indicator light shows you the extent of this change.
- The Body Mass Index (BMI)
The BMI is a coecient used by nutritionists that
involves weight and height. It places individuals
in weight categories recognised by the scientic
community. Its measurement complements that of
weight.
USE
This scale has 2 dierent modes of use:
• “Guest” mode: Use this mode if you only want to check
your weight.
• “User” mode: This mode is the best ally to your gure.
In this mode, each user has his or her own session.
The scale uses personal data saved in the memory to
calculate your body mass index and your change in
weight compared to the previous weighing.
Caution: it is important to read all the instructions
before using the scale for the rst time.
Instructions for use:
To obtain the most reliable results possible, make sure:
• you always place your feet in the same position on the
scale,
• you weigh yourself without clothes and in bare feet,
• you don’t move while your weight is being
calculated,
• you don’t weigh yourself too often. It is recommended
that you limit yourself to once a week and keep the
same interval between each session,
• you weigh yourself at the same time of day. In fact, in
the course of the same day, your weight can change.
This is generally the case when you get up, after
eating, taking a bath, doing intense physical exercise
or taking certain products.

Guest mode:
• Place the scale on a hard, level and at surface
• Lightly tap the centre of the scale with your foot to
turn it on
• Wait until the screen displays “00.0KG”
• The scale is ready to be used
• Step onto the scale
• A graph will wind up in the spiral while weight is taken.
• Your weight will be displayed on the screen and will
remain displayed for a few seconds
• Then the scale goes out automatically
User mode:
• Before the rst use, the scale should be programmed
by the user (cf. PROGRAMMING section).
• Place the scale on a hard, level and at surface.
• Using your foot, press the button corresponding to
your user number.
• The screen will display your user number and
“00.0KG”.
• The scale is ready to be used.
• Step onto the scale.
• A graph winding up in a spiral appears and shows you
that the calculation of the data is in progress. When
the end point of the graph gets to the middle, the
calculation is complete.
• “000” will ash on the screen.
• Your weight, your BMI, the dierence in weight com
-
pared to the previous weighing (indicated by “∆ Kg”)
and the coloured indicator related to this dierence
and the graph that summarises the change in your
weight are instantly displayed for a few seconds.
Note: When using the scale for the rst time, change in
weight ( ΔKG) will show «0.0».
• Your weight is automatically saved in the memory of
the scale. The scale will beep to conrm the informa-
tion has been saved.
• The scale will go out automatically after a few seconds.
INTERPRETING THE DATA:
a. Change in weight (∆ Kg)
The scale records your weight after each use. It au-
- 11 -

tomatically recalls this information to calculate the
change in weight between the current and the previ-
ous weighings. This dierence is then instantly tran-
scribed into kilograms on the screen and the extent of
this change appears in the form of a coloured indicator
according to the table below.
A weight loss or weight gain that is too great over a
relatively short period is synonymous with stress for
your body. Regular and moderate loss will respect your
body more.
Blue Green Yellow Orange Red
Delta (∆Kg)
∆Kg ≤ -1000g
∆Kg ≥ 1000g
-900g ≤ ∆Kg ≤ -400g
-300g ≤ ∆Kg ≤ 300g
400g ≤ ∆Kg ≤ 900g
b. Body mass index (BMI)
The body mass index lets you estimate overweight or
underweight. Its classication indicates a predispos-
tion to weight-related risks. It is calculated using the
following formula: BMI = weight (Kg)/Height2 (m2). For
a more detailed interpretation of the BMI, please refer
to the following table (also found on the detachable
part of the cover):
Important: Don’t focus on a single measurement, but
observe the progress over time. Short-term uctua-
tions are normal. Keep in mind that you know your
body best; the tables below are for information only.

These indications should never be used as a substitute
for medical opinion! If you are in any way concerned
about your health, consult your doctor.
c. Evolution graph
Closely managing your weight involves patience and
discipline. Overdoing it to hurry results is rarely bene-
cial and can lead to uctuations in weight. For lasting
results, it is best to envisage long-term management.
To help you monitor the consistency of your eorts,
the Coaching electronic scale has a graph that shows
you the evolution of your weight over the course of the
weighings.
On this graph, the horizontal axis is the time line. Your
last 7 weighings are represented on it in chronological
order starting from the left. The vertical axis represents
the weight: it records the changes in your weight over
the course of these 7 weighings and transcribes them
again according to a 6-level graduation. The graph that
is obtained shows you the progressive curve of your
weight. In this way, you can adjust your eort at any
time depending on the direction in which it leans.
PROGRAMMING
You can program the Coaching scale very easily and
very quickly. All you need to do is enter your height
into the unit’s memory and that’s it! For every future
use, the scale will automatically recall this information
to calculate your body mass index.
Note: This unit records data for 4 users.
Caution: Every time you reprogram the user memory
(no. 1, no. 2, no. 3 or no. 4), you replace the previously
saved data.
• When the scale is o, press the button that
corresponds to the number of the user you wish to
program and hold for a few seconds. User 1 presses
button ‘1’, user 2 presses button ‘2’, user 3 presses
button ‘3’ and user 4 presses button ‘4’. You will hear a
‘beep’ which indicates that you are in ‘Programming’
mode.
- 13 -

• The number ‘1’ will be displayed on the screen. It shows
you that you are in the session for user 1. The default
setting of 160cm (or the previously saved value) will
also appear for the height and will ash.
• Press on the up and down (‘2’ or ‘3’) buttons to select
your height. The numbers will scroll quickly if you
hold the button down. Once your height appears on
the screen, press user1 to conrm. Your height is now
saved. An audible beep conrms this.
• The scale shows your user number and displays ‘00.0
Kg’. It is ready to use.
Note: The scale turns itself o automatically after
5 seconds of non-use.
You have nished entering your personal data.
ERROR MESSAGES
The scale does not display your weight:
• The minimum measurable weight is 11 Kg.
The ‘err’ message may appear on your screen if:
• your weight exceeds the maximum measurable
weight 180Kg
• the dierence in your weight since your last weighing
exceeds 9.9 Kg
• you stepped onto the scale before ’00.0’ appeared.
The ‘lo’ message indicating a weak battery may appear
on the screen if:
• the battery is nearly empty. In this case, replace it
immediately.
REPLACING THE BATTERY
Your scale comes with a CR2032 3V lithium coin cell battery
To replace the battery:
• When the battery is empty, it should be discarded at
a recycling centre for the safety of the environment. If
the battery is leaking, avoid touching it and discard it
at a recycling centre.
• Insert a new battery of the same type. Place the bat
-
tery with the side marked with ‘+’ facing up.
