3- Cleaning and sterilising
Before use : cleaning.
See the cleaning chart in appendix II.
After use : rinsing and sterilising the tube and nozzle.
See appendix V and VI.
1. Store away the milk you have collected, ensuring you follow the instructions given below.
2. Place an empty bottle (G) assembled with (B + C + D + E + F) in the breast pump.
3. Separate the tube (H) and nozzle (M) from the shield (I + J).
4. Place the free end of the tube (H) in a container of cold water (At least 150ml of drinking water).
5. Press the rinse button (2) on the breast pump (cycle lasts around 30 seconds).
6. Once the automatic rinse cycle is complete, remove the tube (H) and separate all the parts of the breast pump.
7. Throw away the rinse water which has collected in the bottle.
17

NB: The automatic rinse cycle built into the product guarantees the tube is clean and can be reused in total safety within seven hours.
The rinse must be carried out soon after using the device, within a maximum of two hours, to ensure the milk does not dry in the tube.
If seven hours have passed since the tube was last rinsed, we recommend you sterilise it.
To sterilise the tube (H) and the nozzle (M) in a microwave, use the accessories provided and follow the instructions in appendix V:
1. Plug the flexible end of the tube (H) into the reservoir (S) and wrap the tube around it. Check that there are no kinks in the tube!
2. Fill the reservoir (S) with water up to the line inside (1cm from the top).
3. Screw on the lid (R), blocking the tube (H) and nozzle (M) into the notch.
4. Clip the top (Q) over the lid (R).
5. Place in the microwave (top facing up) for the relevant time as shown below:
Power in Watts 900 700 550
Time 6 mins 7 mins 8 mins
Alternatively, you can sterilise the tube (H) and nozzle (M) in boiling water or by using cold water sterilising tablets.
1. In both cases, please ensure no air bubbles remain in the tube (H).
Cleaning other parts of the breast pump, see the appendix II.
The breast pump (A) and cover (B) should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or alcohol.
4- Assembling the pump before use (see appendix III)
Wash your hands thoroughly before starting to assemble your breast pump.
1. Assemble the lid. Press down firmly on Lid (B) + Transparent diaphragme (E) + Bottle ring (C ) + One-way valve (F).
2. Check that all parts are properly assembled!
3. Connect the lid (B) to the rest of the device (A).
4. Plug in your breast pump:
• Using power cable (K + L) OR
• By connecting it to a USB power source (L) OR
• Using four AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries with a minimum capacity of 1800mAh.
18

NB: If the breast-pump is pluged-in correctly (power, usb, batteries), all buttons will be lighted for 0.5 seconds. The breast pump does not
charge rechargeable batteries when it is plugged into the mains. Mains power automatically overrides battery power when the device is
connected to the mains. There is no need to remove the batteries. Minimum battery life is 3 hours with new batteries.
5. Assemble the shields with the tube and nozzle (cf photos).
5- How your breast pump works (see appendix IV)
1. Place the shield (I + J) on the breast around the nipple so that it forms a perfect seal, preventing air from entering.
2. Put your bra over the shield (I + J). You can pass the tube under your clothes and out at the bottom of the garment (photo 2a) or the collar
(photo 2b), ensuring the tube is not kinked or squashed at any point.
3. Ensure the device is vertical, straight and lower than your breast.
4. Connect the tube (H + M) to the bottle ring (C). The tube (H) is very flexible, which can make it difficult to fit.
5. Ensure it is pushed in properly before turning the breast pump on.
6. Press the On button (1). The stimulation button (3) will light up automatically. It is programmed to last 2 minutes.
NB: The stimulation mode mimics the rapid sucking movements your baby makes at the beginning of a feed to let down the milk.
7. After 2 minutes, the breast pump automatically switches to suction mode, on the lowest setting.
NB: The expression mode mimics the deeper, slower sucking movements your baby makes once the milk starts to flow. You can choose to
switch to suction mode before the two minutes are up by pressing the level 1 button.
8. If you wish to use a higher suction mode, press level 2 and so on. The higher the suction the quicker your milk will be expressed. Try out
the various levels of suction to work out which one is the most efficient and comfortable for you.
9. Once you have found the level of suction that works for you, you can move straight from stimulation mode to your chosen level of
suction (without working through the levels in between).
10. Once you have finished expressing your milk, press the On/Off button (1) to switch off the device. Remove the shield (I + J), place it on
the other breast and repeat the steps above. You may find the second breast needs less stimulation time.
NB: The device turns off automatically once it has been in use for 30 minutes. Always keep an eye on the bottle to avoid overflow.
The breast pump includes 1 Bébé Confort bottle Natural Comfort 140 ml. Other Bébé Confort bottles can be used: plastic Natural
Comfort 240 ml, glass Natural Comfort 130 ml and plastic Maternity 140 ml sold separately.

6- Storing your milk
Pour the milk into a clean container which you can seal and date, such as a Bébé Confort storage pot or bag. You can also use a bottle (G) as a
storage container by closing it with a Bébé Confort sealing disk (P).
For milk storage times, refer to the table below.

When you are ready to use the milk, remove it from the refrigerator or freezer. Defrost the milk in the refrigerator for a few hours, then at room
temperature. You can warm it up if you wish. Roll the bottle between your hands to ensure the temperature is uniform.
Only store milk expressed with a sterilised breast pump for your baby.
NEVER refreeze breast milk once it has been thawed.
Never add freshly expressed milk to frozen milk.
Always throw away any milk your baby leaves at the end of a feed.
Do not keep the milk in the door of the refrigerator (the temperature there is higher than in the rest of the refrigerator).
Do not mix formula milk with breast milk.
7- Instructions for use
You may be new to using a breast pump. It is normal to find it a little difficult to start with. Your Bébé Confort breast pump has been designed
to be easy to use; it will soon become second nature.
The shield was designed to be used under a bra.
Everyone is different and it is up to you to choose the best time for expressing your milk. You may find the best times are:
• When you wake up and your breasts are full, just before or after the first feed of the day.
• After a feed if your baby has not emptied your breasts completely.
• When you feel your breasts are swollen.
20

Tips:
Express your milk at a time that suits you. Make sure you feel relaxed and not rushed, and are not likely to be
interrupted;
You can encourage the let-down reflex by looking at a photo of your baby and/or by applying a warm compress

receipt. The manufacturer is unable to take responsibility for damage or injury caused by incorrect use, dropping the device, inappropriate
use or use by an unauthorised person. Your Natural Comfort breast pump does not contain any user serviceable parts. Do not attempt to
repair it yourself. It is essential that you keep your proof of purchase in order for the warranty to remain valid.
9- Ecodesign
This breast pump has been ecodesigned. Bébé Confort is committed to respecting the environment. To reduce the ecological footprint of
the breast pump during and after use, we recommend you follow the guidelines below:
• Use the power cable wherever possible.
• Use rechargeable batteries rather than alkaline batteries. Do not use more water than necessary when cleaning the tubes.
• Unplug the charger after use, otherwise it will continue to use energy.
NB: In the event of loan, gift or resale, it is essential to provide the packaging and instructions. For reasons of hygiene, the soft shield and tube
must be used only by the same person. These accessories can be bought separately in specialist shops.
At the end of its useful life, the breast pump should be disposed of with electrical, electronic and electrical appliance waste. Follow the
instructions provided by local authorities for recycling the batteries. This device contains various metal and plastic components. Before
disposing of the device, ensure it can no longer be used and that it can be destroyed or recycled in accordance with current local guidelines.
Use your local scrap electrical and electronic equipment collection system. If disposed of incorrectly, this device can be a danger to the
environment and public health.

batteries.
• Whether the red light is flashing as you express your milk. This indicates that you will need to replace the batteries or
recharge them before using the device again. Always keep new or recharged batteries near you.
Breast pain when expressing milk. • Use a lower level of suction. If the pain persists, speak to a breastfeeding adviser.
• Try different positions for shield (I + J).
• You can use a Bébé Confort plastic nipple to decrease the pressure on the nipple.
Little or no milk is produced. • Position the breast pump lower than your breast.
• Depending on the breast, the nipple could block the milk evacuation in the shield: if it happens, pause for several
minutes before recommencing.
• Follow the instructions for use, speak to a breastfeeding advisor if the problem persists.
Take care not to squash or kink the tube.
NB: A replacement parts kit (T) is supplied with the breast pump. The kit includes: a one-way valve (F) and two O-rings (D). We recommend
you replace the flexible internal shield, the tube and the nozzle as soon as you see any signs of wear (cracking, tears, etc.). Replacements are
available from your retailer. You should replace the tube after 6 weeks of use.
